   The Coleman XPAND 16-Can Soft Cooler has been pretty good for what we needed. It’s definitely a step up from a basic lunch bag, and the expandable front pocket is surprisingly useful for holding extra stuff. It keeps drinks and snacks cold enough for a good half-day trip, maybe a bit longer with enough ice packs. For the price, it’s a solid choice, though if you’re planning on really pushing the limits for extended periods in hot weather, there are other coolers out there that probably hold ice better. But for everyday use or a casual outing, it’s a reliable option.

   This Coleman cooler is awesome! It has an expandable front pocket for essentials like your phone and wallet, plus a stretchy water-bottle side pocket. The padded handles and adjustable shoulder strap make it comfortable to carry, even when it’s packed full of drinks and food. Cleanup is also a breeze thanks to the sturdy welded seams, coated bottom and an antimicrobial liner that keeps odors and mold away. It holds up to 16 cans, plus it keeps your food and drinks cold for up to 24 hours. It’s the perfect size for carrying my lunch and for picnics with the grandkids at the beach or park!

   This cooler is a good size for a day out with just me and maybe one lucky friend. It is big enough to hold lunch, drinks, and ice, but small enough that I don’t feel like I’m lugging around a mini fridge. The double-sided main zipper is sturdy and the insulation is thick enough without being bulky. I do want to mention that I was a little concerned when I first opened the cooler because the insulation lining looked “loose”, as in bigger than the interior. That wasn’t the case, it just had not been used and pushed into shape. Speaking of shape, the cooler itself holds its shape well. It has a firm bottom so it does not sag like an old tote bag, and it is still flexible on the sides and top and can thankfully accommodate the slightly too tall water bottle I keep bringing. Inside the lid, there’s a mesh pocket (no zip, open on top) where I put my non-ice-needing essentials like chapstick and a tiny bottle of sunblock, because I don’t want my lip balm melted into soup from the external heat or floating in cooler water. For carrying, there is a detachable shoulder strap and a double hand strap. I really like the little extras, things my other small soft-sided cooler doesn’t have. For example, it has a stretchy bungee on top that can hold my thin tech towel. There is an exterior side pocket (mesh, open on top) for small random odds and ends and a really nice zippered “expandable” (according to the tag) front pocket. It doesn’t actually expand all that much, TBH, but it is very convenient for a bottle opener, keys, phone etc. and kind of tilts forward some when opened for easy access. The cooler comfortably fits a six-pack or two four-packs plus a few snacks and ice. I haven’t tried fitting 16 cans, and if you do you may be playing a game of “cooler Tetris.” In terms of performance, so far it’s kept things cold all day. I haven’t tested the full 24-hour claim yet, but Coleman’s usually solid, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it holds up. Bottom line: great cooler for the price, perfect for short adventures, and I’m officially a fan.

   The cooler is nice, I have 5 others just like it. This new model XPAND just has a front pocket that stretches… maybe an inch so you can fit a couple more credit cards or an extra phone in the pocket. That’s it… don’t get me wrong, it’s a great little cooler, I just feel like Coleman missed the mark on this. If you could XPAND the cooler bag to fit a couple extra sandwiches or a drink or two that would be impressive.

   So I got this bag today and tested it out by leaving a bottle of water from the fridge in it for about 6-8hrs.
   The bottle was your typical Tupperware 1liter bottle. I’m in Delhi and the temp is touching 40 outside. I left the bag in a room next to a double reinforced window with sun protection. I didn’t add anything else in the bag.
   At the end of approx 7hrs, the bottle was barely cooler than room temp.
   That being said, I have still kept the bag. Why? Because I know once I add cool gel packs and the rest of the cold/frozen food I want to carry in it, it’ll likely keep it cool for much longer.
   Unlikely it’ll work for the 34hrs the product description claims though.
   That’s why the 2 stars.
   This bag will work for my needs. But will not perform as promised in the description.

   This is a nice little cooler bag. It’s basically a lunch bag size. The liner is very baggy and makes the volume a little deceiving. In the picture, I have six 12oz cans and could put two more and still have room for ice. You would have to be creative to get 16 cans in there and I don’t think ice would fit too. However, the bag is great and there’s lots of storage options. Everything seems very sturdy and well made. I’ve been using Coleman products forever and they really are the best value for your money. Their quality and pricing is always balanced well. My only critique is I don’t like the loose liner. It’s not a big deal, it just makes it more difficult to clean. I guess there’s less seams to worry about this way. The colors are vivid and the stitching is spot-on.
