   I bought this before my recent vacation and it was good enough for me! The other review are right – it is narrow. So if you’re a larger person this isn’t for you. I’m 6ft tall and a size 12, for size reference, and the width was fine for me. I love the insulated pouch on the back and the carrying strap. Can’t give it a full 5 stars because I wish that bar wasn’t in the middle – it didn’t hurt my butt, but it would be nice to be able to lay flat on this is as well which you can’t do with the bar. Overall, a decent value.

   We use ours for outdoor concerts and picnics. It is quite narrow, but we don’t find them uncomfortable. I’m 5’3″ and my husband is 5’11”, both average weight.

   These are great when traveling to the beach. You can sit up on those flat sand beaches and read a book or just take in the beautiful ocean view. They are light and easy to carry. They also fit In most medium size suit cases so you could even take them on the airplane in your checked baggage. I didn’t use the cooler bag for food or drinks so can’t speak to that. However if there’s nothing in the cooler bag you can easily lay down flat if so desired. I recommend using a towel laid over the chair.

   Very sturdy. Waterproof. Easy to carry around. Attractive colours. Looks and works exactly like shown. Wish they sold it in pairs of two! And the number of compliments I’ve gotten on it! Not very heavy to carry around and have used it for 2 years now (2months approx use each year) and love the cooler feature at the back as well.

   I guess its my fault for not checking on the dim’s before purchasing, but figured there would be a one size type of item as the last one I had gave out after a good number of years. Im a big guy and cannot get comfertable on this as by should blades hit the metal framing – it does however work great for my kids.

   I just used my new chair for the first time at the beach yesterday and I have to say that, for the money, this was an excellent purchase. The chair folds up compactly and has a carrying strap for your shoulder. The cooler actually kept my water bottles pretty cold for several hours. I have broad ex-swimmer shoulders, and they fit perfectly between the metal supports on the side, and the breathable back is great to prevent getting all sweaty. The can easily be placed in a checked bag for travel or perhaps even carried on with you. My only recommendation is to maybe bring a couple of small towels – one to lay over the top of the chair to create a comfortable rest for your head and one to place under your bum (the angle at which you’re sitting can make it a little sore/numb after 30 minutes or so).

    Don’t let the paid reviewers who plug another brand of chair defer you. If you travel to the beach and like to travel light, this Coleman beach mat is worth the roughly $20 you’re going to pay, and comes with free prime shipping. Chair is narrow yes, but not uncomfortable. You can easily chose the best recline position for your sun and comfort needs. The long carrying strap let’s you effortlessly carry this to the beach. Fits easily in my 25 inch suitcase, and there is still plenty of room for everything I need for a 10 day trip. Convenient and a huge step above laying flat on the beach. You can sit up and people watch, read and enjoy the view of the water… Taking this to Mexico next month and will update with any new findings. .

    According to the description on the website, this item is supposed to measure 26x21x26. I knew it was probably longer than 26 inches so I wasn’t too concerned about that, but figured it was at least 21 inches wide. Upon receiving it, I couldn’t believe how narrow it was. It only measures 16 inches wide. I’m not a large woman (5’3″, 118 lbs) but I feel like I would be overlapping the edges unless I lay in a completely straight line. So much for keeping off of the sand. Also, there doesn’t seem to be a way to recline at more than a 45-degree angle. It is a pain to unfold since you have to unthread nylon webbing from a slide adjuster in order to open it, and then re-thread it when it’s time to fold it up. There’s only one strap of nylon webbing that holds the back up and it looks like it’s already beginning to fray. I already own the Picnic Time Beachcomber mat and although it is much more expensive, I feel like it’s worth the extra cost. Not only is it wider (21 inches), it has much more padding and you can adjust the backrest anywhere from upright to completely flat. To open, it just requires undoing a couple of velcro straps. The back is held up by two straps on both sides of the frame so it seems much sturdier. I ordered the Coleman beach mat in May and it took almost a month to receive it, so maybe it has been recently re-designed since there are so many positive reviews in the past. The only reason I gave it 2 stars rather 1 star is because if you’re looking for a beach mat that might fit in a large suitcase, this one would probably fit. Also, the back is a few inches higher than the Picnic Time, so tall people might find the back a little more comfortable. See my picture for a side-by-side comparison. All I know is that I’m returning this beach mat and buying another Picnic Time beach mat.
