I’ve used this light inside my own personal and inside the canvas tents at Cub Scout Resident Camp. Provided plenty of light. I love the way it attaches. The magnet is very strong, and held it to my tent. Enough light to see but not too bright that it drew a ton of bugs. Follow the Instructions and DO NOT ATTACH IT THE NETTING OF YOUR TENT, you will rip your tent. I did not do this as I read them, however, I can see how it could tear holes in the netting! It’s a tad heavy for the netting and will pull it down and will rib holes. Also DO NOT SLIDE it on your tent you will rip holes in it. If it’s not in the spot you want it, detach the magnet and reposition it! Overall I love this light, it’s convenient, I do not need to find space to place a lantern. Like all my battery operated items I camp with I store it in a plastic tub and take the batteries out!

My dad has two of these that he had purchased at a local hardware store. I searched the store and every other outdoor store around looking for one and couldn’t find it. I finally bought the light off colemandiscount.com.
I camp quite a bit in the summer (as often as I can) and I love this light. The magnet is very strong and sticks everywhere. I like having a light in the tent at all times instead of using a flashlight. I put mine above the door of my 5 person 6 foot tall tent and it illuminates the tent enough to see by (but not enough to read by). I am thinking of purchasing another one for even more light. I highly recommend.

I don’t have this for reading late at night in my tent, I just wanted a light so I could see where I put everything. And as a light source it works well. I have a military issue 2-man tent, which I can’t find a comparable commercial model but it has 3 poles that arch over the top to create the frame. I placed this light at the strongest junction where 2 of the poles met and even though this light feels a little heavy in the hand there was no sag to my tent. The magnets are strong, and when there’s no material between the magnets and the metal bracket, trying to separate the two almost always results in the light cover coming off. This wasn’t a problem taking if off the tent, and while it’s in my pack I’ve taken to keeping the paper instructions between the magnet and the bracket which makes it easy to separate them without pulling the cover off.
This is also deisgned as more than just a tent light. It comes with drywall anchors and wood screws in case you’re just looking for a battery powered light to put in a closest or remote location without electricity.

I like these lights quite a bit. We do not hang them in the middle of the tent, though, so I can’t attest to it lighting up a whole tent (plus our tent is big, 15×12). We use these right above where we sleep in the tent for reading, etc. They hold well and don’t pull on the tent too much. We use rechargeable batteries in them, too, so I don’t know how fast they go through regular batteries, and each takes 4 AA, so rechargeables would be a good idea. And yes, the lights are an oval shape, just as an FYI. They have a rubberized push button on/off on the side and the batteries are easy to put in and take out.

I bought this for my boyfriend when he camps. It has a medal attachment to hook to your tent. One metal piece goes on the outside of the tent, the other on the inside (have to match up) I thought it was just going to sit in the tent, but this seems to work better. He likes it and it is very light in weight. Good purchase if you are always using your cell phone to light up your tent at night.. or wasting your flashlight battery trying to look around your tent. This is great because it lights up your entire tent and you don’t have to hold it while you are looking for something. You will like this if you decide to purchase it.

Battery burns too quickly……difficult to carry many spare batteries and the lamp is very heavy.

I bought two of these tent lights for our camping trip to Oregon, we are first time campers and thought that this would be a great addition to our kit. we received the lamps in great time, seller did a great job getting them to us and this is not a review against the seller. The Lamp itself is very, very cheaply made. upon opening the package I found that one of the clips was already broken then when putting in the batteries on the other light I found that one to be cracked also. Bottom line, I would not buy this product again, great idea, however very cheaply made. I was so disappointed as a lot of people seem to really like the product. Also the amount of light these put out is about worthless! OK if you want to walk about in twilight so as not to trip over shadowy objects. I don’t write reviews often, but when I do it is because I feel I have been ripped off. I also purchase the Rayovac Sportsman LED Lantern SE3DL, do yourself a favor and just go and get one of those, if was well worth the money and put out way more light than both of these lights put together.

What a great Idea this is. I just used it on my Camping trip and it worked out great. Before I was using a Flashlight or whatever else that was handy and it was a hassle. Only light up a small Area, hunt for the light, etc. This light uses some AA battery’s that pop right in. It’s Magnetic. Really Strong and a Metal plate that you remove. Just turn it and pull off. You place the light inside the tent on Top. either after it’s put up if it’s a small tent, or before it’s up, and place the metal plate on the outside. This holds the light up. Then you can put the Final Covering over the top of the tent and your done. Then just push the button on the side to turn it on and off. It will light up the entire tent. It’s not that large and doesn’t weigh very much, but does a pretty good job and the light should last for quite a while. Mine worked full power for a week of camping. If you have a really large tent, maybe having 2 would be a good Idea. The price is right. 1 was more then good enough for my use.
