   Buyer beware. I received half the mantles advertised. The ad says you receive two packages of four mantles for a total of 8. I received two packages of two mantles for a total of 4.

   Lanterns need the mantles replaced every now and then. The mantles work so well when new. Any defects like holes mean you should replace immediately.

    I bought these without really noticing that they have strings instead of tabs (though the description says clearly). The strings don’t really bother me. They are long enough and easy enough to tie, just not as fast or simple as the tabs. I buy these for Boy Scouts, and my Scouts sometimes complain about having to tie them on but that just builds character.
