   This is the year 2022 and this was the best design they could come up with? This thing is such a pain to put up, I gave up a few times and then was determined with anger that I would not be outsmarted by a tent. I got it up but I have no intentions of taking it down or putting it back up, the kids can destroy it for all I care. I thought this would be nice for in the back yard to protect from sun and bugs or maybe even to take with us to a park or big open area to relax and enjoy lunch. It’s just way too time consuming and frustrating. It looked simple, it’s just two collapsible curved poles that you put together and slide into the two sleeves to form an X, then slip the four bottoms of the poles into the sleeves and attach a few clips going up the tent. The poles kept coming apart where they slide into each other while I was trying to slip them into the sleeves making this like stringing a drawstring back into pants but on a much bigger, more annoying scale. I don’t think that having two people would’ve helped, it’s one of those things that would be too hard to coordinate and communicate what’s going on. Once I got the darned thing up, a slight breeze came and knocked it right over before I could stake it down. I pushed it back up, staked it down, and realized how cheap it is. The material could rip so easily, I’m sure I’ll rip it breaking it down or putting it back up. It’s too thin to even really offer much sun protection. The whole front and back unzips down to about a foot and a half off the ground so you’re left with a big pile of mesh that someone could trip over. I really expected a smarter design and better quality from Coleman, especially at this price.

   This is a great idea and I really like it for camping. It isn’t a tent, has no floor, but I like it. It’s just enough shelter for most situations, keeps the bugs and the sun and the rain largely at bay, I love that you can sit up inside, still see around yourself in a strange place, which is more comfortable for most people. I know this isn’t technically a tent, but I really like it for camping if you feel you can get away with not having the privacy of walls or a floor (bring a blanket with you for a floor). Of course this is more meant for having a little shade at the beach or the park where you can put your cooler and chairs. It’s great for that. It’s the size of a small pergola, plenty of room for 4-5 people and plenty of stuff. The material, the poles, the case, it’s all durable. The material is thin and light, which is kinda the purpose of this product as it packs into a small bag that weighs less than a pair of boots. The material feels honestly very light, but I have been rough with it and nothing is ripping. The product photos show it would fit over a picnic table, which I think is pretty cool for a pretty convenient base for your family with shelter. It’s best to think of this as a pergola or a roof, and not a full building. I usually bring several woven blankets that I put on the ground and that’s worked for me, but you are a little more exposed to the dirt and the crawling bugs in that situation. Set up is easy once you’ve done it a few times. Lay out the (very light, somewhat thin, but durable) fabric, it’s all one thing, connect the poles to the top, then connect the poles to the base (which lifts up the ceiling). I can do it in about five minutes, but the first couple of times I was confused by the shape of the fabric on the ground. Now I just look for where the poles attach to orient myself. It goes up in five minutes for me. Each pole has a rubber ball on the end and is safe and won’t tear anything even if handled very roughly. The poles are long, really just two poles broken up into segments, but both connected by a stretchy rope inside. They work through the top and I thought it was pretty easy to get them through. Staked into into the ground just at the corners, the structure is stable. If there’s more wind you can also stake down the ropes (already attached near the top of the columns) though I only do that half the time). There is no floor included with the 10×10. I believe get a floor with the small canopy, but not the large one, and that can be confusing because there’s just this one page selling both models. So, the big canopy I like doesn’t have a floor but packs up into a small case and you can easily throw some rugs on the ground than assemble a huge tent, and it’s easier to pack up this way. The benefit to no floor is you can put this on top of things. Like a table that doesn’t move, or we often use it to cover our little inflatable pool. I really could hike a long distance with this as my shelter, though I guess most wouldn’t do that. For something you have in your car to bring with the cooler and a chair, it’s ideal. Just bring a hammer rope and stakes and be patient the first time you assemble.

   Nice material, functional zipper entry. Keeps out even the smaller gnats but.. Tent poles are small in diameter and unit bends to even a moderate wind. Suitable for set up in a fenced yard or against a leeward, wind protected area. Not an open field.

   I mistakenly thought this would have a floor, because it was shown in pictures. But according to the video the 8×8 size has a floor, the 10×10 size does not so that it can fit over a picnic table. I found this Coleman Skyshade Screen Dome Canopy difficult to set up. I needed a space about 3 times the length of the canopy in order to put the poles together and begin to thread them through. It was more difficult to set up than some tents I’ve had, because the poles kept coming apart particularly at the bent link on either side. I plan to bring it on a family camping trip that has a very large wide open space, but I would not bring it on a trip where you’re limited to one small camping spot. Once it was set up in my backyard, I returned a couple hours later and found it was way hotter inside the canopy than outside of it in the sun. Despite the mesh and sunshade, you’re going to want to have fans going if you expect it to be cooler. For real life application, honestly if the bugs are bad enough that you need this then you’re going to get dozens of bites in the process of setting it up. Finally, one of the ball ends on the poles, which are not supposed to be removeable, was already off when I took it out of the packaging. I kept trying to stick it on and it kept falling off. I like that it has tie downs to stake the upper part as well to help with wind, but I’m not seeing a lot of scenarios where this would be my go to.

   This product clearly shows a floor and even has a picture saying “REMOVABLE FLOOR for extra protection and comfort”. This is NOT the case! there is no floor which is exactly what I was looking for. I had picked up a different one last year without a floor and wanted something which actually keeps bugs out. Very disappointed. However, that said, it’s a quality product and has flaps which reach the ground. So, you can make it bug proof which is better than I can say about my earlier purchase. Still, not happy about the missing floor feature.

    I like Coleman’s screen dome tent. It actually has a bottom that can be attached. It was fairly easy to set up but I did need an extra pair of hands. Unfortunately one of the tent poles got bent in a strong wind shortly after purchase. About a month or 2. So I called colemans and they actually sent me a brand new 8 by 8 screen dome tent! I was amazed! I just will make sure not to leave it up when there might be a lot of wind again!

    This floor is not well designed to stay in place. I plan to sew a zipper into this to attach the floor, but allow its removal. As designed, this floor “attaches” with loops at the corners and edges that don’t stay in place. I wanted this screened tent for babies and toddlers to have a safe and secure place to play while camping, but it was useless for that purpose. Disappointed that I need to change it.

    I really liked the idea of this with the floor. I found it easy enough to set up by myself. Decent quality. Big doors with zippers. I definitely recommend it with the following caveat: Unfortunately the floor only attaches with 3 loops on each edge. I wanted to have my small pets inside with me but they could easily escape. If floor was zippered or permanently attached to the bottom edges then it would be perfect. So unfortunately I had to return it since it is not useful for me. Too bad, so sad. My pets are disappointed too. I think it’s 5 stars for the money but I reduced it by 1 due to the floor.

    This has honestly been sturdier than we thought, and it’s been cool to use with the kids for outdoor activities like painting or crafting etc when we just didn’t wanna deal with bugs. Set up wasn’t bad at all, my husband and i had it up within little more than 5 minutes but I’d recommend at least 2 people to set up since the rods through the top can be tricky to get layered correctly or pushed through on your own. Our only issue at all so far has been one zipper being broken, rendering the other side useless so ours essentially only has one door but maybe it’s worked out better anyway not having the kids coming and going on their own through two zippered door ways lol. We’ve left it up through several rainy/windy days and it didn’t have any trouble, and we did have it staked down with the stakes included. The included bag for storage is nice too.

    Works great to keep the bugs out while enjoying our patio, if a bit of a tight fit. We have a half-table, chairs and a glider on our patio and this fits right under our covered pergola. No floor, but that is great for our flagstone patio. Do need to secure the corners due to high winds, but have found a way to use bungee cords around the pergola corner posts and the four points of the shade tent poles. Keeps all but heaviest rains out so can enjoy the patio even on rainy days.
