   This is my second Coleman pop-up tent. I got this one, because my girlfriend and I couldn’t fit our sleeping pads in the 2 person, so I pretty much had to get a 4 person. Despite the fact that our sleeping pads are really big, the 4 person fits them without a problem and it is supposed to fit a queen size mattress as well. The dark room technology was an extra $20 and it was well worth it! We slept in until 8 in the middle of summer and, with eyes shut, couldn’t tell that the sun was up. The only downside is that when your eyes are adjusted to the light and you’re going into the tent, you can’t see. So you need a lantern to see inside most of the time (when your eyes aren’t adjusted). I saw another review about how they couldn’t fit the tent back in the bag. I think they just didn’t do it right, because I put the tent back in the bag and also have enough space for a footprint and a small fold up chair in the bag.

   Haven’t had it in any rain yet so can’t speak to water resistance but as a Coleman product I am not worried about it not being able to handle the rain. It will be hard to get in and out of during an active rain event without water coming in through the open door flap due to its oval arch shaped design. It also has no ventilation with the rain fly on which is a bummer in hotter temps when you might get an overnight rain storm but the screen roof combined with rain fly minimizes collection of condensation on the inside of the tent, which is ultimately whey I chose this instant popup tent over the few other choices as wet inside the tent is the worst 🙂 If Coleman folks are reading the things that would push this product to the absolute top of the pile would be to correct the issues I’ve highlighted in this review and to add integrated awnings to eliminate or at least minimize water penetration into the the door of the tent when entering or exiting during active rain. Also a few more hooks and storage pouches on the inside would be really helpful.

   The tent arrived on time and was just what I expected. It is packaged as a disc that is fairly flat and about 3′ across. It really does set right up on its own. Remove it from its soft cover, undo the elastic band and it flops right open. It’s a good tent for two for a short trip. It only fits 2 cots and there is no room left for a table or a heater. We were able to keep our two bags of clothes inside at night. The cooler stayed outside. We stayed two nights out in the cold; 50 degrees at bedtime and 30 degrees in the morning. Way too cold the first night. The top of the tent is all net for great ventilation which is very good in the summer, not in the cold. We put a couple of moving blankets over the ceiling netting which helped to keep some body heat in. Luckily we missed the first morning of set up because a thunderstorm came through the area. Between the high wind and driving rain I think the tent would have been soaked with the mindor rain cover that it has. I typically put a tarp under and over the tent, no matter when I camp. The tent was nice and dark inside, so napping was easy and the morning light did not come too soon. Overall it is a good, small tent for one or two people for fair weather. It fit great along the side of my 2 door Jeeps back seat area. I won’t be using it again for cool or cold weather. It would be super for the kids in the back yard.

   Note: I have not slept in this tent yet- so I will come back to update after I have! This is a nice tent- the dark room technology works rather well for 12 noon full sun when we tested it out. I tried to record a video of how dark it was inside the tent- but my phone has low light technology on that makes everything appear much brighter. Therefore, I won’t upload the video as it’s not accurate! One thing I would change about this tent is the 2 loops to hold the door open- there is NO plastic piece (a toggle?) to do so! So unless there is another way that I’m not sure of, I’ll have to tie a knot to keep the door up. I’ll have to look inside the bag to see if toggles came with the tent stakes and I overlooked them. I will update this later. The tent only comes with one hanging pocket which is divided in half. There is no hooks on the roof that I saw to hang a light of anything else. This tent could definitely hold two adults but not a lot of extra room if two people are in it. It’s definitely roomy enough for one person. The tent pops open very forcefully and could smack someone in the face if they aren’t careful. Closing the tent was a little tricky- but not too hard to figure out. It does come with instructions sewn into the carrying case. The instructions say to add a rubber belt around the folded tent to secure it- but it didn’t come with one. Due to no ceiling hooks for hanging a light or fan, not having toggles for the door, and no strap for securing the folded tent closed, I am only giving this tent 4 stars.

   It sets up and takes down quickly so that is good… But I have only five easy nights on it (camping on a drop cloth, not beating on it at a fair or something) and it is already tearing (see pictures). Basically, this is a disposable tent and should not be looked at as something that will last. I am so easy on tents, I still have a tent from the early 90s with probably close to 100 nights on it so this tent is just poorly made. Updates: It gets worse. I was inside of the return period when I wrote the above review but decided to contact support to see if they would make things right. It took them 30 days to respond so it took me outside of the return window and they also refused this as a warranty claim because it was “wear and tear”. 5 easy nights in this tent is wear and tear? No, Coleman, 5 nights and tearing fabric means you use subpar materials and nobody should ever buy it since you don’t stand behind it. My car camping tent is a Eureka from the 90’s that has no tears with around 100 nights in it. My backpacking tests are Big Agnes with dozens of hard nights in them an no tears. This is NOT wear and tear. This is a bad product and terrible support. I will never buy one of your tents again and I would never recommend them to anyone who wants a product that will last longer than a couple days.

   Pro: Easy set-up, easy break down. Roomy for one person and a dog. Dark room tech is awesome. Con: The outer door on this thing is constantly getting stuck in the zipper. It gets a bit irritating. This thing really sucks in the rain. I would highly recommend that you don’t even bother testing it in the rain because I did that for you. I would only use it for non-rain or very, very, very light rain trips. I just got back from a camping trip where it rained very heavy for the last four hours of the last day I was there and although I mainly had to deal with extreme sweating in the tent, there were some areas the tent got wet. Also, because of the shape of the tent, when you open the door…ALL of the rain comes in. So, why am I still giving it 4 stars…well, because as long as you aren’t using this in the rain, it really is an awesome little tent. The construction is good, easy setup, dark room tech is great, roomy…I love it. I’ll just have to use my old tent for rainy trips, sleep in the jeep, or invest in something tougher in the future. Hope this helps someone.

   Ive used this tent over 5 times with no issue of tears , leaks, or issues. Its great for keeping the light out, which does help with heat control. Its so convenient to setup in seconds and break down in almost the same amount of time. This tent is also surprisingly durable as well, as I have used it during a windstorm and it remained staked down and didnt break, while other tents around me flew away or the tent poles broke. The design and shape are aerodynamic and the dome-like shape helps let the wind pass over it versus pushing against it. Only thing is it says its for 4 people, but it would be a tight squeeze. maybe 2 adults and 2 very small kids. It fits my queensize air mattress with space to spare on both top n bottom and on the sides. This is a great crawl-in tent for the money.

   I went camping in a group. Everyone brought their own tents and I was set up and tore down before anyone. The group next to me watched and told me how jealous they were. The only reason I woke up is because other people were moving around. It was pitch dark in that tent. It’s a really quick option when you don’t need much. I will bring this for the bed of my truck in the future.

    Great tent! So easy to open and close, makes setting up when getting to camp a lot easier. I give this tent a 4 star for that reason.

    The problem is, it must be the dark room technology material. Whatever it is, this tent feels like you’re sleeping inside a black garbage bag.

    The condensation build up is a real issue. Your sleeping gear, pillow, whatever, is going to be wet in the morning. There isn’t anything that can be done, except maybe a bar over the tent to hold the rain fly up off the tent to help ventilation. Don’t buy, wait for them to work out some design bugs
