   This is a pricey replacement for the old Coleman lanterns that used plain batteries or the old rechargeable pack. This one is nice because its battery is interchangeable with a bunch of other Coleman products. I live in hurricane country, so when a battery leak destroyed my old one, I went with this one and a flashlight that uses the same battery. The light is nice and bright, and a little dimmable, and the charge lasts a long time.

   These are a little finicky to charge without the Coleman charging pack, and seem very picky about using the cable they came with rather than any other one with the same connection. I’ll probably get the charger soon, so am not worried about that.

   Although the shell is robust the switch or wiring has failed after about 20 uses, and the lantern will no longer light. I would not recommend this product.

   This is the best design ever. I bought two of these and they are just great. We use one on the porch at night when we eat dinner. I keep another on my bedside table. We live in a rural area that has a lot of power outages. BUT, it’s also nice to turn on for a soft light at night. Battery seems to run a long time. The adjustments for brightness are terrific. The light is warm, not cool in color. This is just perfect in every way.

    My husband received one of these for his birthday in June and I loved the concept and hew of light, so I bought a second one and we gave away our ‘real’ lanterns. On the first camping trip the light started to flicker and went out. After touching it, it went back on. This kept happening for about 15 min. until it went out for good. Our second lantern did the same exact thing on our following camping trip. So I called Coleman customer service and they first told me that we cannot get a refund for the ‘gift’, but ultimately they gave us a refund for the other lantern. UPDATE: initially I gave this lantern one out of five stars, I just updated it as we realized the problem was actually very simple. The poor electric connection was due to the top battery lid not tightly screwed in all the way. If you push a little beyond where you’d normally twist the battery back in, it fits into a little groove, where the connection works. So this whole time it was our fault for not fitting it in correctly. Since we figured that out, they have worked pretty well. I like the shade of warm white light they give off, compared to other brands. But one other bad thing is the clear plastic cover for the lights scratches very easily- and I recommend that you make some soft cover for it as soon as you use it- otherwise it dims the light, eventually.

    Lantern produces a very warm, orange color light. Nice that it has multiple brightness settings but you need to use both hands to turn it on and adjust it. Doesn’t have a blinking light like some lanterns do, so you can’t find it in the dark. My biggest gripe is that the USB connection on the battery will not charge my Iphone 13. Major flaw.

    Even after charging the battery, we were to able to get the light to work. We contacted the company and they sent us a new lantern. The second lantern works, but even at the brightest level the light not very bright. In addition it projects light to a small limited area.

    I am not sure what the light is good for. You can’t have it next to you and tried to read, it doesn’t project enough light, can’t see a large area if you use it to walk the dog at night. Disappointed
