   The old plug/drain on my mid/early 60s Coleman Cooler had a slow drip. This replacement plug isn’t exactly like the original as it doesn’t have the same support on the outer drain side, but it’s more than strong enough once screwed on. And it still sits flush inside the hole to be a direct replacement. I just kept the original rubber washer on the inside as it wasn’t damaged and it works well with the new parts. Highly recommend!

   Really needed to use our smaller cooler only to find out the plug was severed. Looked the cooler all over and found the model number underneath. A google search model number led me to colemandiscount.com. Before anything I tested to see if the plug even fit and then I broke out some needle nose pliers to aide in loosing up the part that was on there really tight. Screw off, screw on, done. No leaks. The plug was the only part I needed so the other 2 pieces went back in the package.

    My marine Coleman is probably about 20+ years old and I’ve been using a home made stopper for a plug for some time. The replacements I would find would have either tool long of a shaft or too short and never fit properly.

    This plug is the exact one I needed. If you are trying to find the right plug, remove the old one first and make sure to measure the threaded shaft that goes through the body of the cooler plus the diameter of the spout. There are about 4 possible sizes from what I’ve found and its not always that easy to find the cooler model numbers on the bottom.

    A Coleman replacement part that works as described. I included a pic of the ice chest I installed it on, and a pic of the bottom of the ice chest with the model numbers (6238, 6239, 6240, 6241) shown. Prior to ordering this part, I was unable to determine if this was the correct part for my ice chest as it was not listed any where, including the Coleman website.

    Talk about something manufactured by a designer who uses their own products. One youtube view and two minutes later I was able to remove the old cracked plug assembly on my 15+ year old cooler with this new one and away we went. Worth every penny. Wouldn’t hurt to have one as a backup either if you have an old Coleman. A+++++
