   I ordered this about a month ago and have used it 4-5 times. The globe showed up with a minor chip but has been usable. Every time i get it pressurized it begins to leak from between the tank and heat shield. It also has a bad tendency to completely fill the globe with flames coming out of the top, even traveling under the heat shield. It is neat when it does work correctly, but i question the safety of this product. I’ll be looking into a re-seal kit to try to get this to work propery. In the meantime i’ll stick with the propane.

   As the title says, globe on mine arrived broken. The metal spout of the alcohol bottle was poking through the broken globe, so it seems likely that it was the culprit. I reached out to Coleman on their website and explained the issue and asked for another globe, but I haven’t received an answer yet. The rest of the lantern is fine, and the unit is well made. I’ll be happier when I’m able to actually use it.

   I already keep kerosene for my wick lanterns and heaters, so the idea of a much brighter lantern using the same fuel is very appealing to me. Other than the pre-heat process (not hard, just takes a few minutes) it is just as easy to use as any other Coleman lantern. Many reviews note that the lantern doesnt work very well or not at all at less than full throttle. If you want to run it less than full blast, use the standard 21 mantle that most twin mantle lanterns use. These are easier to find and my lantern works just fine at half throttle with them. The picture shows my lantern using a 21 mantle at half fuel. I do wish the glass was made in USA, its pretty lame to see “Made in China” on such a quintessential American product even if it is only one part. Still, I give big props to Coleman for continuing to offer these lanterns at a very reasonable price and mostly USA made.

   My lantern arrive early and safely. The lantern looks great. I like the vintage look and function. The lantern is a bit bigger than I thought it would be compared to many dual mantle lanterns I know. I figured it would be a bit smaller. Works well like it should. Had no trouble putting it together and getting it to light up. Puts out a nice bright warm tone light. Tad bit dimmer than a propane lantern. Only thing I don’t like about it is having to remove the handle out of the mantle housing to remove the top to gain access to the mantle and alcohol preheat cup. Coleman lanterns usually have a nut on top to remove when taking the top off with the handle. I’ll manage to work with it.

   I finally took this out camping. Out of the box it is a nice looking, well made lantern. Before taking it camping I did a quick check to see if it worked, and it did. On my trip I used it and noticed it wasn’t holding pressure so I had to pump it every 10-15 minutes and the light was fluctuating substantially, even after a couple hours of operation. I will do some research to fix it. I’m not fond of fixing new stuff. I am using K-1 kerosene and denatured alcohol.

   Well, the lantern itself is still in the box because it arrived with a broken globe like 50% of everyone else. Waiting on manufacturer response and will update, but as is, i would not recommend buying unless you can put hands on to make sure glass its not in a bunch of pieces.

   I was looking forward to getting this new lantern. It showed up a day early but with a chipped & dented ventilator and a broken globe. I don’t want to return it for fear the next one will show up even worse. It worked out that I had a extra globe laying around that I’m happy to see get used & the dent & missing paint gives it character. I just wish I could have been the one to ding it instead of the delivery service. Thanks to Coleman for building a solid product that can take a beating.

Deve ser manuseado com cuidado porque é perigoso e tem risco de incêndio (o acendedor usa álcool e o tanque guarda uma grande quantidade de querosene) e de asfixia (se usado em ambientes fechados e sem ventilação). É caro, as peças de reposição também, mas a durabilidade é muito superior à da maioria dos lampiões a querosene do mercado.

    Followed the instructions. Fired right up. Slightly more yellow tint than standard white gas lanterns but really nice. I’m considering another one. Big tank and runs for hours after pumping once. Defiantly recommend.

    I have quite a few Coleman lanterns. This is my only kerosene unit. It is a bit of a pain to light the alcohol and warm up the generator but after that this is one of the brightest lanterns I have ever seen. Kerosene is a cost effective method of running.
