It has pathetic build quality, almost as bad as a disposable one. Consider it something for one time use only.

I run an outdoor youth program and we do a lot of camp cooking. I bought this Coleman cook set specifically so the teens in my group could give it a field test. The cook set FAILED miserably. The main problem is the incredibly thin aluminum of which it is constructed. I mean, really, really thin. it is barely thicker than a couple of sheets of aluminum foil. In fact, the handle of the frying pan is so thin that when there is food in the pan you have to be very careful about lifting the pan because the handle actually bends under the weight of the food! We seriously bent, and almost broke, the handle the first time we used the set. In my opinion, the metal is too flimsy to use safely in a campfire cooking situation. I would hate to have a pan of hot bacon grease splashed all over me or someone else because the handle collapsed while moving the pan off the fire. The other problem with the thinness of the aluminum is that the metal heats unevenly. Some spots get very much hotter than others, which leads to burnt food.
All in all, this is a terrible cook set. I grew up using Coleman camping gear and I’m seriously surprised the Coleman company allows its name to be put on this piece of junk.

This is perfect for my bug out bag! I love how it all fits together perfectly into a nice small little package and extremely lightweight. I hope I never have to use it but I’m sure glad I have it!

I have seen in the comments that some have not cared for this stove… I say that they may not be using the stove at it was intended! I used a mess kit very similar to this every day for the close to 20 something years I was HOMELESS! It work great with my Esbit pocket stove and fuel tabes…
It is made of thin aluminum in order to boil water and cook food quickly, you will not be able to cook a five course meal on it, but you can have a hot meal pretty quick…. This set is not non-stick so oil or butter should be used to help with clean and if near a beach a little sand always helped me with the clean up to remove stuck food😊 this set should not be place directly on an open camp fire without a grill over the fire, but used with a small grill and close monitoring it has always worked for me… I bought this,June of lst year as a replacement for my other mess kit that was stolen from me in case I am,camping or homeless again and should need to have my one hot meal a day!

Took this on a dispersed camping trip up to the far end of Eldorado National Forest. Threw every part onto a Jetboil burner, suspended over the open flame of a campfire, and set it directly on hot wood coals. Held up just fine. The pan got slightly bent, but I just banged it out with the butt of my knife. With the price and quality of the items, it was to be expected and really wasn’t a big problem.
TL:DR – Whole set is stamped sheet metal, but works fine and is good for the price.
