   We live in an area with many power outages due to power consumption, safety concerns, and weather issues. Our old soft sided cooler finally gave up the ghost, so we decided that we’d opt for this cooler, the NYT’s Wirecutter’s budget recommendation as we could not rationalize spending the amount that a Yeti cooler would cost.

   We had to evacuate in September due to wildfires and this cooler allowed us to pack food to take with us that would not have lasted if we had a power outage. It served its function perfectly. The only beef we have with it is that it doesn’t have a latch to keep it closed.

   I’d recommend this cooler to anyone on a budget and who doesn’t need one that has a latch/lock.
