   I bought 3 of these chairs in 2018 for a beach vacation. It is now 2023 and with 7 kids, they are still going strong! We’ve used them at the beach a few times, a TON of baseball & football games/ practices, left them by the campfire or out by the pool for MONTHS and these chairs still rock!

   I am only 5’2, so these are great for me. My husband is 6’2, and he is not so fond of them. However, my younger kids were 4 and 1 (now 5 & 2) and had no problems climbing in and out of these chairs or having to worry about them tipping over with them in it because they don’t sit still in them. I love that they don’t take up a bunch of room in my trunk, being that they are half the size of traditional camping chairs.

   For the beach and practices in the summer, I attached a clip on umbrella to help with the sun. The umbrellas folded up nicely enough to fit in the bag with the chairs. I highly recommend them!

   I walk a distance to the beach and I wanted EASY TRANSPORT. This is the lightest beach chair I have ever owned. It easily folds up and it folds up compact. The color is pretty and I find it comfortable enough. I will definitely buy this again because it is great for me, but please note it does not recline. It isn’t the chair for those who like to fling the seat back and take a snooze. I would prefer to sit upright and read and this chair allows me to do that just fine.

   My wife and I bought two Coleman Utopia Beach Chairs for our recent 12-day trip to St. John. They worked perfectly. The chairs are sturdily constructed, fun colors, and the drink holder is a nice plus. We loved that they collapsed into a “cylinder” shape, because this allowed us to carry them over the shoulder, or to put them in a medium-sized backpack for hiking, something that’s really helpful on St. John. The cloth material held up well, and dried quickly after it got wet, which was every day.

   The only drawback is weight. They’re not super light, though they are lighter and more compact than most chairs of this type, and the compressibility makes up for it. On hikes of significant length, we packed our backpacking chairs, which are not nearly so comfortable, but only weigh 1 pound.

   Bought 2 as ‘throwaways’ for a 3-day festival, but they are now permanently in my outdoor gear repertoire! A bit heavy for their size, but if I can literally drop my 240lbs into one of them and nothing even creaks, they must bombproof… They don’t recline like a typical beach chair, but so what?
   Very comfy as a hanging out place to sit on the sand or grass, they are slightly leaned back so they can sit perfectly in an incline too!

    We bought these so we could throw them in a bag to take on a plane for a trip. Totally worth it! For the price, you get a good little beach chair. They sit low, and I mean very low to the ground. But we are the kind of people who like to sit up front on the water. If you have bad knees, these are not for you. They are very comfy though, fold up ok and clean up pretty easy. Im 6’4 210 and fit no problem. The things I did not like were mostly the cup holder and and they fold and un fold. the cup holder is junk, so do not expect anything special. If you really want the cup holder to work, go to your local hardware store, and buy a real washer and bigger screw, and it will serve its purpose! Second, the unfolding. These have two plastic parts that slide into each other, if you do not fold it out all the way, it will feel uncomfortable, so make sure you pay attention and you will be way more comfortable. Finally, one chair folded no problem, the other had a tendency to stick a little. Nothing that cannot be managed though. Both chairs survived a week at the beach with no rust, and went back in the carry bags no problem. For some small compact beach chairs, I say go for it.

    After reading quite a few reviews on multiple sites we settled on these chairs to replace our aging (although perfectly functional) ‘standard’, adjustable beach chairs. You know the ones. Wood arms w/ multi-position adjustment which get a little ‘gritty’ over time, but still work. Because these were nice and low profile and people seemed to like them, we overlooked their non-adjustability assuming we could position them how we liked based on the angle we set them in the sand. A soon as we got them, we opened them to check them out. Cool looking. Sturdy. Low to the ground. Seemed to open and close nicely. Great! Let’s go on our beach vacation. Day 1: Get out the chairs. Set them up. They work pretty well except for the non-adjustability. Time to pack up, and UH OH! All of the moving parts that need to work together are sandy and nothing moves smoothly anymore. Give them a rinse and it’s still not working. There are so many moving parts, that once the sand is inside, it’s never coming out. It’s a bit of a riddle trying to figure out which of the LOTS of moving parts is your biggest foe keeping the chair from folding. After a bit of wrestling, we get them back in the bags. Not ideal, but not the end of the world. (we rinse them better when we get to our house hoping it helps) Day 2: Back to the beach. 1 of our 3 chairs WILL NOT open. The plastic sleeves that slide over the metal tubes to open the chair will not cooperate because there’s friction and grating from sand trapped in the moving parts. It’s such a problem that it’s already abrading the paint and rust is appearing after only a few hours of use and moisture. From there, we can only ever get it slightly open and toss it aside, never to be used again. 1 DAY OF USE. (see attached pics above – 2nd pic shows maximum this chair will open) Over subsequent days, our other two chairs become more and more ‘friction-y’ along the moving parts but we were still able to get them open with a bit of wiggling and cajoling, but there is a shocking amount of rust and corrosion (on other rivets & pivot points). I will say that if you’re going to use these chairs for camping, on a deck or somewhere where you weren’t exposing them to obvious grit or particulate that can get in the joints, they probably work fine. These chairs SHOULD NOT EVER be called BEACH chairs. They will not survive sand. One huge plus was their portability. These 3 chairs took up less space in our roof carrier than our two, ‘old-style’ beach chairs. But if they’re only good for a ‘one-time’ week of use, the space gained is a waste, unless you treat them as a rental and just throw them out. Oh. And they come with a crummy mesh cup holder over a metal ring (missing on 1 of our 3 chairs). Holy cow, what an afterthought. Awkward & useless positioning BUT it is great for getting caught on the bag as you try to put it away for even more frustration. If you buy these, just remove it.

    It’s perfect to enjoy the beach, sand and sun. Not hard to open or to transport. It is really low on the ground so I would not recommend for older people or for people with knee problems, beside that all good.

    We got these to pack in our suitcases for a beach trip and they were perfect! They fit nicely in our suitcases which was important. They weigh closer to 7 pounds, so not the lightest, but they still worked. They are very easy to set up and very comfortable! The cup holder is a great feature too.

    We’ve had these chairs for a couple years now. They’ve been to the beach and back several times. They have held up wonderfully and are comfortable to sit in on the beach. I really like the storage space on the back of the chair- I can put my phone, book, sunscreen, etc. in there and don’t have to worry about them getting wet if a wave comes up to my chair since they are raised out of the water.
