   Here is another item that we purchased for my husband to attend Scout Camp. He is a new Scoutmaster and this will be his first year attending camp. As a leader he doesn’t have to sleep on the ground but can take a cot with him. Now, my husband is not a small man and wanted to be sure he had a sturdy cot that would handle his size. There are several things that he really likes about the Coleman Pack Away Cot. One is that it is 80” long and sits 17” high so he doesn’t have to sit down so low to get on the cot and will hold up to 300lbs. Another feature he really likes are the crossed, metal legs that easily fold out and back up again and then the folded cot fits into a zippered case. He likes that the hinge at the center of the side rails is covered by a canvas flap. The last feature that he really likes is that the side table can fasten on either side of the cot. At just over 20lbs this is not a backpacking cot but will work well for camping in a spot where he can park close to the campsite.

   Fast to assemble and put away! (Approximately 1 minute to set up and 2 minutes to put away in bag). My 6 year old can independently assemble it at the camp site. Heavier than anticipated but perfect for car camping or we used it in a camper so we didn’t have to keep turning the kitchen table into a bed every day! There are no “finicky” parts to assemble as it is one piece (plus the side table which we haven’t used). Thermarest mondo king mattress fits perfectly on it. Enough room underneath to store two Rubbermaid 68L containers and a 40L water jug (or backpack etc).

   As a person standing at 6′ tall, one of the most important aspects for me is adequate length, and I’m pleased to report this camping cot definitely meets that criterion. A standout feature of this cot is its side attachment shelf. This handy addition offers a convenient spot to place essential items like water bottles, flashlight, or reading material. You can easily install it on either side of the cot, making it highly customizable and user-friendly. For the most part, the cot offers a reasonable degree of comfort. However, for side sleepers, there may be some discomfort to note. After spending a few nights on it, I did find it put a bit of pressure on my hips, which isn’t ideal for a full night’s rest. So, side sleepers might want to take that into consideration or consider using additional padding for comfort. Durability-wise, I did notice some minor wear and tear along the seam after two weeks of regular use. It’s not a significant issue at this point, but it does raise some concerns about long-term durability. The foldable design is a significant advantage when it comes to storage and transportation. It folds into a thin shape and slips right back into the provided carrying case. One word of caution, though: Be careful when folding it back up. The mechanism can potentially pinch fingers if you’re not mindful – I learned this the hard way. Overall, I would recommend this camping cot for its good length and handy side attachment shelf. It’s mostly comfortable, though side sleepers might want to take the potential hip discomfort into consideration. Be aware of the minor durability issue and be cautious when folding to avoid any finger pinching. I would give it a solid four out of five stars.

   Arrived as described and on time. At 69 years old I was looking for a cot that sat up higher(easier to sit on and get up from) than those compact ones that sit really low and fold up into a small bag which are best for back pack camping, since I am an SUV / tent camper lugging a bigger profile and much heavier cot was not an issue. This was perfect for but yes again it is heavy and extremely sturdy. I like the optional side table that came with it which I was concerned it would fit loosely and sag some but it also is sturdy, it folds up into it`s own storage bag if not using. I am 6`1″ and 195 lbs. I had plenty of room to spare lying down at either end. The bonus is that it is extra wide which adds to the comfort as a side sleeper. For my living room test run I added a pad and pillow and slept well. Like other Coleman products that use the pop-up system this also unfolded and refolded with no issues fitting back into bag. For me this is perfect –if you are and RV-er , Car camper or need an extra bed for guests at your home or cabin with space to store it, this is built well and very functional. Good luck MIke

    Surprisingly comfortable and BIG! I was truly on the fence between this, a padded mattress (Woods) which I had purchased last year and returned, and something like an Exped Megamat.

    This is a very solid cot and those who are concerned about the legs collapsing need not to worry. Unless you’re moving it around for who knows what reason, it will stay put even if you shuffle around on it.

    The cot without a pad is quit comfortable and I can see myself using it sleeping on my side no problem.

    The attachable table/drink holder is also very solid and mine doesn’t droop like in some photos. If yours does, you can use some vice grips and bend the metal to be tighter on the frame.

    I purchased the Coleman sleeping pad, which does add a great deal of comfort to it. I’m looking forward to camping with it, seriously.

    It’s high off the ground (18 inches give or take) and you can probably store all your gear in your tent under there.

    No bars to dig into you. You’re not on the ground, you have the space and it collapses into a reasonable size bag. Not small but not gigantic.

    Highly recommend for “glamping” as some may call it. Get a pad for added comfort, but if not, it’s definitely comfortable enough, but won’t compare to a bed that’s for sure.

    Is this large enough for a couple? Definitely not. You’re looking at a double mattress for that,unless you guys don’t like moving around at night and want to be touching the sides of this. I will have to opt for a doubke mat for my gf, but as a solo camper, this is just awesome. I don’t like to sleep on the ground or near the ground. That’s just me.

    The width of the cot needs to be stated better since there are several measurements given. The width of 44” includes the side table attachment. I measured the side table usable width of approximately 12.25” but 13” only at the points of attachment to the cot due to the hardware.
    I measure the width of the cot without the side table attachment at approximately 31” but they list 32”. The side table included measurement can confuse the actual width of the cot. I wish they had clearly spelled everything out with a picture diagram.
    I haven’t used the cot in a camping situation yet to give an opinion on that but I have set it up. It was easy and seems sturdy.
    Personally, I wouldn’t want to sleep on a cot without adding some kind of padding on top. That’s why I think being clear on the width measurements ahead of time is important if you already have another mattress you want to add to it.
    I’m adding a support board on the cot in the center third of it to better support my mattress. I’ve tried it and it works fine.

    Bought two of these cots for a hunting trip in CO. They are very comfortable and very easy to set up. Overall, I had a great experience with them. A couple gripes I have: The cot is heavy at about 23 lbs so it’s a bit of a pain to lug it around. This cot is best suited for camping close to the vehicle. If you’re sleeping in a cold climate, be sure to bring an insulated sleep pad, or you’ll freeze! Also, because the material is so slick, I had to wrap cargo straps around the cot in order to keep the sleeping pad from slipping out from under me. With that being said, they’re a great value for the price, and I’ll be using mine again in the future.
