   Yes, it takes a propane canister, still cheaper than most of the batteries for some lanterns. I love the brightness, much brighter than my battery powered lantern. We use this for camping and by our fire pit next to our pond.

   I was so thrilled when this arrived and am still very much so! This old time classic is wonderfully updated to be much more compact for easy packing, travel and storage. The older style travel case was extremely bulky, so this is very much an update. The socks were firmly in place and light very quickly. The light is very bright and easy to control. Thrilled to have this on hand for camping trips. This is a classic that will never die.

   Original review: 7/25/2020 We plan a tent camping and one of the must gadget is the lantern. I have used the liquid fuel lanterns in the past and wanted to get one of those. Comparing the price I wanted to give this a try. This works with propane And has a matchless mechanism (I hope it lasts for some good time). One of the attracting points was that it came with the quick cover. The cover is very Solid and protective. It also came with two mantels installed. $30 for a 1000 lumen is a great value. Will add a video once I start using it. Recommended

   Tried and true. Great lantern. One of the best functioning lanterns out there in my opinion. Just don’t break the glass cause replacing it will cost as much as the lantern. Speaks to the value of the lantern though that they can price them that low. Good for emergency use too.

   Quite simply, you must burn the bags first before the electric start should be used. for this use a lighter or match (while the bags are installed and the glass is in place and the lantern is put together).. the bags will burn for a bit, shrink and start to glow.. there will be smoke! dont worry.. this is normal on the first burn. After the initial burn in, the electric starter will work, just let a little gas in, and proceed to the the sparker. Boom light! Its roughly the same as my 20 year old coleman, however not as rugged. but for the price, its fine. please note, once the bags have been burned once.. they are now fragile. dont touch unless you wana replace them. Also, should go without saying, this thing will be hot.. dont touch the glass when in and just after operation.
