Word to the wise…only buy these standard tie on mantles. The newer clip on design mantles do not stay on and once they’re ash, if one pops off they disintegrate. Tie ons are simple and last a long time (unless you drop your lantern).

So something to note. This mantle is for the smaller peak 1 lanterns or the 229 and 226 series dual fuels. It is not for the larger lanterns. Now the #20 mantle is getting hard to find in regular stores as to the small lanterns were kind of a niche thing. So being able to find them here is nice, and the price was not that bad. These are string tie and not the easy clip, so you are going to have to tie a knot to make them stay on the burner assembly and you have to be careful not to pull the string too hard or it will break.

Coleman original they are the leader. These work great. No problems at all.

I have a 1 mantle lantern for emergency’s and camping. The sad thing is they don’t last very long. It is a little hard to keep from getting knocked around in storage. But when it is on, it is very good.

This is the right one for my Coleman table lamp.

If you have a vintage, small coleman Peak One lantern, this is the correct size. The larger ones for the larger lanterns are really too big

Note that these are the Number TWENTY mantles. These are for small lanterns such as the Exponent that I have. If you use the wrong mantle for your lantern you’re likely to have problems with it. I searched EVERYWHERE locally for these, including waiting a couple of weeks for a new Bass Pro Outdoor World to open nearby, and even they did not have it. Well, here they are on colemandiscount.com. Since they’re what I needed, I have no complaints. (Except that I wish I could pick them up locally somewhere. I had to leave my lantern behind for a camping trip because I found that the old mantle was broken when I took it out of storage, and I had no spares.)

Coleman just knows how to make a solid product. My Dad handed down his old 80’s Coleman Peak 1 Model 222A lantern and needless to say the mantle was toast. Bought these and they work great! Admittedly when they first arrived it didn’t look like it’d fit (they looked too big). But when you ignite them they shrink.
IMPORTANT!: If you’ve never changed a gas burning mantle before watch the videos on Youtube before doing so! And most definitely don’t just swap a new one in and try to ignite the lantern! Bad news bears!

This fits the older gas lamps. The clip
On mantles are easier but cost more and the metal parts can be a hazard
