I bought 4 of these and they worked great the first couple times around. I had to throw away 3 of them as they leaked propane even with the canister on tight and valve off. They wouldn’t ignite after a while, and just kept on leaking. It is a fire hazard to keep them around. I am going to be writing to Coleman to let them know of the problems as this can cause some serious injury. I don’t know if the valve inside goes bad or what, but they sure didn’t last long. Glad I only paid $15 dollars each for them. Good luck to fellow users and watch out for those leaky valves!

I have had a pair of these torches for about 3 years now and I try to take them with me on every camping trip. They provide a wonderful background mood light for the campsite. They provide enough light to see by if you’re wandering around the camp, so you don’t trip over the cooler or the woodpile. I wouldn’t try to use them in place of a good lantern – they’re more of a supplementary light source. My experience is that they are reasonably wind resistant and last for a good long time – rough estimate is 8 – 12 hours continuous use per canister, depending on how high you crank the gas. They pack up nicely and the poles are shock corded to fold compactly. Yes, they are kind of expensive, but considering you don’t have to fuss with the mess (or the smoke) of oil / kerosene tiki torches, I think they’re worth it. Happy Camping!

I have waited a long time for something like these! No messy oil! I got them and took them for camping and they were perfect! I got three but they were so bright I only needed two. Quick easy and awesome!

We’ve been using these for the past two years when we camp. You’ll still need task lighting, but it puts a nice glow on the campsite. Easy to find your way back from the bathrooms in the dark. Also, the citronella rings are a nice addition. We rarely see many mosquitos – but we also use bug spray just in case. We have four. They break down easily and we keep them all in a duffle bag. Usually one propane tank will take us through about 3 nights.

The description says this will withstand 10 mph winds, but it really can withstand 15 mph breezes. And it lasts 10 hours on one of those smaller propane tanks: The kind that is about 7 inches high and 5 inches in diameter. I imagine on a larger grill-sized tank it will last about 3 days.
This would be great for someone who likes to drive a car or other small vehicle and set up a tent somewhere, but doesn’t want to worry about controlling or putting out a bonfire.
Great for RV travelers too who want a light that gives off a bit of heat too. It’s like having a lantern that gives off heat. I recommend this.

I purchased to put by my pool. It is very simple to put together, very portable and does just what I wanted. I ordered a second one for my patio. The cintrenella disc has lasted a long time, which makes me think it probably isn’t doing much. So don’t order a bunch of extra disc’s and don’t count much on it to kill mosquitos.

I loved my torch. Used it for years on our annual fall trips. Last night I looked at it and it was totally engulfed in flames. Melted the cover and knob. Disappointed.

I like the fact that when I have the torches on, I don’t get the black smoke like the oil burning ones. I am disappointed in the fact that the green plastic covering started turning a white color after being outside only 2-3 days. It is now completely white and I am trying to figure out whether to cover it with something or to go by spray paint.
